The property of today’s Hotel-Restaurant Jöckel has been owned by the family since 1896. From 1896 to 1929 the parent company housed a colonial and haberdashery shop, which was initially run by Heinrich Jöckel and later taken over by his son Friedrich and his wife Margarethe. In 1929 it was decided to convert it into a private pension. Even then, the art of cooking was very popular, because Margarethe Jöckel’s culinary art was the mainstay of the private pension. In 1956 Ernst Jöckel and his wife Elly took over the management. Due to the business boom, further structural changes had to be made.

In 1969 this took place with the construction of a larger guest room with a dining room and guest rooms with an indoor pool and sauna. After the son Karl Jöckel, who is a trained chef, has been running the guest house in the fourth generation, the construction of a new building opposite the main building began in 1991. Five double rooms were created. Bowling alley and guest garages. That is why our family owns a hotel and restaurant complex with over 50 overnight accommodations that are extremely comfortable. Owner Karl Jöckel and son Stephan Jöckel, who is also a trained cook and hotel clerk, take care of the physical well-being of the guests.

The menu is extensive and contains the right thing for all tastes. The specialty of the house is undoubtedly the Heidschnucken dishes. Not to forget the good service, which also extends to celebrations, conferences and the party service. The family took on a new challenge with the construction of a new cafe and bistro with five holiday apartments right on the lake. Since April 2000, guests have been pampered here with cakes, pies and small dishes from the “Jöckelküche”. And here over 20 overnight stays are offered in holiday apartments!

In 2002, the party service was expanded by taking over a crockery rental shop, which up to this point had been able to equip events for up to 600 people. In 2003, the tableware rental was expanded to an event size of 3000 people due to very high demand! In 2004, an event and trade fair service was added to the tableware rental through a takeover, where kitchen appliances, chairs, tables, party tents and much more were also available, and the dishwashers for the city of Lauterbach and Alsfeld were also taken over!

In May 2005, the gastro and event service “G + V Rent” was founded, which today can equip and host events of all kinds for up to 5000 people and has its own mobile kitchens, food trucks of various sizes, dishwashers, refrigerated trailers, toilet containers, serving trolleys! In 2006 the entire exterior view of the main building was changed and a terrace and 50 outdoor seats were added, and one floor of the room was completely renovated! In January 2007 the wellness area was renovated due to the joining of the SPA hotel chain and the house equipped with infrared cabins, whirlpool, massage rooms, fitness room, in the same breath the hall for events was completely redesigned and expanded to 120 seats!

In 2008 the renovation was continued, new appliances were installed in the kitchen, all rooms in the main building were renovated, bathrooms were redesigned, rooms with WiFi, new flat-screen TVs. A winter garden with almost 40 seats has been added to the Cafe am See and the terrace has been redesigned! The Vulkan holiday home has been added, in two holiday apartments with almost 160 square meters each, up to 15 people can stay overnight! In 2010 the construction of the facility is making great strides. The volcanic barn for up to 250 people was built and put into operation immediately, the model sports land was built in cooperation with model construction companies. In 2010 the hotel received a 3 star rating from Dehoga. In 2011 the construction of the park continues, paths and parking spaces have been paved and paved to accommodate wheelchair users! In 2012, GV rent Service’s offer was doubled and a complete tableware rental service was taken over! In 2012, construction of the beach club began in the amusement park.

With a sandy beach and much more, and in 2013 the construction of holiday homes started which should be ready for occupancy in the following year! At the end of 2013, the planning of the volcano hall with 1200 square meters started. More than 55 institutions had to be asked about the fact that it turned out to be more than difficult, since the outdoor area borders on a nature reserve! In 2014, the ornamental house in the middle of Nieder-Moos, which is under monument protection, was added and converted into 6 simple apartments for fitters!

In 2015 the main house was renovated again, all the guest rooms with bar area were redesigned, the entire balcony area was renewed. Furthermore, a pit pat facility was built in the amusement park. In 2016 even more holiday homes were built in the complex. Among other things, the new volcano hall!
